Simple 4-step process to remove watch links
Identify the link you want to remove:
- Place the watch on a clean, flat surface.
- Examine the bracelet carefully and determine which links you need to remove for a better fit. It is usually best to remove an equal number of links on each side of the clasp to maintain symmetry.
Prepare the watch link removal tool:
- If not already installed, insert the pointed end of the removal tool into the handle.
- Adjust the tool so that the pin is aligned with one of the link pins on your watch bracelet. The pin of the tool should be directly opposite the link pin.
Push out the shift pin:
- Gently apply pressure to the tool to push the link pin out of the watch link. Do this slowly to avoid bending the pin.
- Once the pin moves, pull it completely out the other side with your fingers or a small pair of pliers. If the pin is difficult to remove, apply constant pressure, but do not force it, to prevent damage.
Reassemble the watch strap:
- After removing the desired number of links, align the remaining links to reattach the bracelet.
- To reassemble the bracelet, carefully place the pin back into the links. Push the pin in the opposite direction from which it was removed.
- Make sure the pin is secure and the links are properly aligned.
Extra Tips:
- Work in a well-lit area to see small parts clearly.
- Place a cloth or soft cushion under the watch to prevent scratches.
- Please be patient and careful during the process to avoid damaging the watch or links.
- If you are unsure or uncomfortable with this process, consider seeking professional help from a jeweler.
